Pudhina thogayal is a simple and easy accompaniment with rasam or curd rice.
Especially when you are really craving for a rasam after an outdoor trip or when you are running temperature, the pudina thogayal as a side dish will satisfy your craving. Everyone in the family likes it. My mom makes a variety of thogayals, will keep updating.
Preparation Time: 5 mins | Cooking Time: 10 mins |Serves: 4
Ingredients:
Mint - 1 cup tightly packed or 1 bunch
Urad - 1 tbsp
Red Chili - 4
Coconut - 1 tbsp
Tamarind - 1 inch
Perungayam/Hing - 1 pinch
Oil
Salt to taste
Method:
- In a pan fry urad and red chili, add a little oil. When browns add tamarind and coconut and fry for a minute.
- Add the mint. Fry until it shrinks. Add salt, perungayam/hing, and cool it down before grinding.
- Once it cools down grind in a mixer. Grind a little coarse.
- Pudhina thogayal is ready. You can serve this as an accompaniment to any South Indian dish, idli/dosa, or just have it with white rice and nallenai topped over it.
