A simple and healthy dish. Vazhaipoo is most commonly used in making vada. This dish tastes absolutely good with hot rice and ghee.
Preparation Time : 15 mins | Cooking Time :15 mins | Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- Toor dal -1 cup
- Vazhaipoo - 2 cup finely chopped
- Green chili - 2 nos chopped
- Onion - 1/4 cup chopped
- Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
- Chili powder - 1/4 tsp (optional)
- Salt to taste
- Oil for seasoning
For seasoning:
- Mustard - 1/4 tsp
- Broken urad - 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves
Method:
- Below is the picture showing how to clean your vazhaipoo. Discard the right most. After this you could chop and soak in water until you cook.
- Cook toor dal with little turmeric.
- Now add onions, green chili, vazhaipoo, salt. Red chili powder a little(optional)
- Bring it boil. It cooks quickly, so don't keep boiling for long.
- In a pan add oil and seasoning, when splutters add it to the dal.
- Enjoy with hot rice and a little ghee.
