Chicken Biriyani (Cooker Method)

  

A simple method of making biriyani in one pot. 


Preparation Time :15 mins | Cooking Time :25 mins | Serves: 5

Ingredients:
    
  • Chicken - 2 lb / 1 kg
  • Basmati Rice - 4 cups
  • Onion - 1 big size, sliced
  • Tomato - 2 medium size
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 2 tsp
  • Mint - 1 cup
  • Green chilies - 6 nos
  • Red chili - 3 nos
  • Fennel/sombu - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  • Chili powder - 2 tsp
  • Lemon juice - from 1/2 lemon
  • Oil
  • Salt to taste.
For Seasoning:

  • Cinnamon - 1 stick
  • Elaichi/ Cardamom - 2 nos
  • Cloves - 3 nos
  • Star anise - 1 nos
  • Black stone flower - 2 pinch
  • Bay leaf - 1
















  • In a cooker add oil, when hot add seasoning ingredients.
  • Add sliced onions and keep frying until its color changes.
 



  • Add the ginger garlic paste, ground green chili paste
  • When the raw smell leaves, add the tomatoes and mint.









  • Fry till they all get soften and blend together.
  • Add turmeric,chili powder, salt.


  • Now add the chicken and mix with the masala, pressure cook for 1 whistle. (add 1/2 cup water if needed, the onions would leave water)











  • Meanwhile wash and soak the rice and keep.










  • When chicken is done add 1/2 lemon juice, rice, 4 cups of water, mix and pressure cook for 1 whistle.


  • When done add orange color mixed in 1 tsp water and pour it on top.(optional)
  • Mix without breaking the rice, garnish and serve.
