Again a favorite recipe for me that was prepared by Amma frequently, and I have enjoyed it a lot. This recipe is a substitute when nonveg is a no-no at home. The flavor from garlic and cumin is an extra touch. Amma's preparation has a lot of garlic, and maybe that's a reason I have carried it over in my cooking, and I loved it too.

Ingredients:
- Potatoes - 2 large size boiled
- Garlic - 6 to7 cloves
- Cumin - 1 tbsp
- Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- Chili powder - 1 1/2 tsp
- Dhania powder - 1 tsp
- Pepper - 1/4 tsp (optional)
- Oil
- Salt
- Curry leaves
Method:
- Slice the boiled potatoes into thick pieces.
- Grind the following ingredients in the picture.
- Add 1/4 cup water to grind to a smooth paste.
- Season the potato with salt. Add some oil and the ground masala.
- Coat the potato slices evenly with the masala. No need to marinate.
- Shallow fry on a tawa with a tbsp oil.
- Turn and cook the other side.
- Add curry leaves when done.
- Enjoy the tawa roast with a mild rasam or sambar.
