Malai / Creamy / Afghani Chicken


A rich and creamy Afghani style chicken curry.


Preparation Time:20 mins |Cooking Time:30 mins |Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Chicken - 1/2 kg/ 2 lb
Lemon juice - from 1/2 lemon
Yogurt - 1/2 cup
Cream - 1/2 cup
Milk - 1/2 cup
Chat masala -1 tsp
Garam masala -1 tsp
Pepper powder -1 tsp
Butter -3 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt as needed

Grind:

Onion - 1/2 cup
Ginger garlic - 1 tbsp
Green chili - 6
Cilantro - 1/4 cup
Cashew - 10 nos
Poppy seeds - 1 tsp



Method:
  • Grind all the ingredients mentioned above with 1/4 cup milk to a smooth consistency.






  • Add salt to the cleaned chicken. Keep adding all the ingredients.
  • Cream
  • Yogurt
  • Lemon juice
  • Chat masala, garam masala, pepper powder.
  • Now add the ground masala.
  • Mix well to coat the chicken pieces.
  • Add the remaining milk.
  • Add 1 tbsp oil.
  • Marinate for 30 mins.
  • Fry the chicken with 1 tbsp butter. You could grill or cook in the oven.
  • Meanwhile, simmer the remaining sauce on low heat.
  • Fry to get a roast golden brown color.

  • When done add the chicken to the cooking masala.
  • Add a tbsp of butter and cook for another 10 mins.
  • When done add the remaining 1 tbsp butter and garnish with cilantro.
  • Enjoy your creamy malai afghani style chicken with roti/ naan, pilaf...
