Crispy Nethili Fry


Crispy Nethili fry yet another quick starter. Except for the cleaning part it is quick and easy to do recipe. It's rare we get some fresh fish here.
We go around shopping for a fresh fish market, and found some good Korean stores here. Got some nethili and thought of sharing this recipe to all of you.This is once again a favourite recipe learnt from my  mom. After her my sister in law has mastered in making them. We try to remember and recapture the recipes my mom had been making. 

Preparation Time :15 mins | Cooking Time :15 mins | Serves: 4

Ingredients:    

Nethili  - 1 lb/400 gms
Lemon juice - From 1/2 lemon
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Maida - 2 tbsp
Rice flour - 3 tbsp
Chili powder - 1 tbsp or to taste
Kashmiri chili powder orange red food color - 1tsp
Sliced onions - optional 
Salt to taste
Oil to fry

Method:
  •  Clean the nethili, heads off. Wash and drain the water.
  • Marinate the fish with lemon,ginger garlic paste, turmeric and salt for a minimum of 15 mins.

  • Mix the dry ingredients, the flour, chili powder and salt. You can also use corn flour.

  • Now add the marinated fish in and dust them using a sieve, to remove the extra flour. 


  • Fry them in hot oil, in small batches.This should not take more than 5 mins.
  • Drain them on a paper towel and add some fried curry leaves .

  • Serve hot and crispy nethili with onions and lemon.
