Lamb and Peas Curry


Slow cooked lamb in a mild sauce. I love mutton and not a great
fan of lamb. This recipe tempted me to try it. I like to cook lamb in a grilled style and not with Indian spices but this is a simple recipe with great flavor.

Preparation Time :10 mins | Cooking Time : 50 mins | Serves: 4
Ingredients: 

Lamb - 1 lb  
Onion - 1 big chopped
Tomato puree - from 2 medium  
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Green peas - 1 cup
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Dania - 1 tsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Yogurt - 1 cup
Oil
Salt as needed

For tempering:

Bay leaf - 2
Cinnamon powder/stick - 1/4 tsp/1 inch
Elaichi powder/whole - 1/4 tsp/ 2 nos
Black peppercorns - 1 tsp
Cloves - 5

Method:

  • Add oil in a pan and temper with the above motioned ingredients.

  • Saute the onions with ginger and garlic paste.

  • Add the lamb.
  • Add turmeric, chilli, dania powder, garam masala and salt and saute for a while.

  • Add the ground tomato puree and little water if needed.

  • Let it slow cook for 40 mins.
  • Check if our lamb is fully cooked and switch off.
  • Saute the green peas in a tsp of oil and add it the lamb curry.
  • When its cooled down, add 1 cup yogurt and mix them all together. 

  • Enjoy with jeera rice/paratha/roti/naan...
