Shrimp/Prawn/Eral Thokku

A very simple, home style eral/shrimp thokku.
Usually had as a side dish for rice with sambar/rasam. It also goes well with roti. Prawn curry turns out very tasty with very less ingredients. So try this simple recipe with no gimmicks.........

Ingredients:

Shrimp - 1 lb (cleaned and deveined)

Onion - 1   

Tomato - 2  

Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp

Red chili powder - 1 tbsp

Dania powder - 1 tsp

Turmeric - 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil

Curry leaves and cilantro to garnish

For tempering:

Mustard - 1/2 tsp

Urad - 1/2 tsp

Method:

• Chop the onion and tomatoes. Clean and devein the shrimp.

• In a pan add some oil, when hot add the tempering ingredients. When splutters add the chopped onions.

• Fry the onion until tender, add ginger garlic paste and fry for some time.

• Add the tomatoes and cook until tender and mix well.

• Now add the spices and salt, cook until oil leaves.

• Add the cleaned shrimp and coat well with the masala. No need to add water.

• Cook shrimp until the color changes, this will hardly take 3 to 4 mins.

• The masala is all done, garnish with cilantro and curry leaves.

• Enjoy with Rice or roti.
