Thengai Pal Sadam/Coconut Milk Pulao


Thengai Paal Sadam/ Coconut milk pulao is a healthy dish recipe. Coconut milk is highly nutritious and very good for your stomach.
I have used canned milk in this recipe, easy for bachelors. But always use fresh coconut milk to get all the nutritious benefits. It goes well with a chicken curry. Vegetarians can choose brinjal chops or any spicy dish as accompaniment.

Preparation Time :10 mins | Cooking Time :20 mins | Serves: 4

Ingredients:    
  • Basmati rice - 3 cups  
  • Onion - 1 sliced
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch thinly sliced  
  • Garlic - 5 cloves thinly sliced
  • Green Chili - 5 to 6 slit
  • Mint leaves - 1/2 cup
  • Coconut milk (fresh or canned) - 2 cups
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Cashew - 10 nos
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil
Masala for tempering:
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 inch
  • Bay leaf - 1

Method:
  • Cut and keep all the veggies. Soak rice in water.

  • In a cooker, add oil and tempering masalas, ginger,garlic, onions, green chili, mint.


  • Fry them a little and add coconut milk and water.
  • Add one spoon ghee.  
  • Add salt, rice and mix all together.
  • Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  • Open when the steam is settled.
  • Fry the cashews in little ghee and add it to the rice.
  • Enjoy your pulao with a spicy side dish.
