As we are nearing festival season starting from Dussehra to Diwali, its time for snacks and sweets. A simple thenkuzhal murukku made easy and comes out with no failures...
You can make this instantly using store bought rice flour.
Preparation Time :10 mins | Cooking Time : 25 mins | Makes around 40 nos
Ingredients:
Rice flour - 2 cups
Urad flour - 1/2 cup
Butter - 2 tbsp
Asfoetida/Perungayam - 1/4 tsp
Jeera or Sesame seeds - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Water to knead
Oil to fry
Method:
- Take all the dry ingredients.
- Add melted butter.
- Mix all together with water and make a non sticky dough.
- Fill a handful dough in the murukku press, you can grease them on the sides with oil.
- Make murukku in a long handled ladles so that it is easy to drop in the hot oil. Cover rest of the dough with a damp cloth, or it will get dry.
- Drop them one by one in hot oil. Turn them and fry until the bubbles start to stop.
- Drain them in paper towel and store them in air tight container.
Note:
1. Add plain chili powder if you want it little spicy.
