There is nothing quite like a steaming bowl of homemade Chicken Kozhambu to bring comfort to the
dining table. Rich, aromatic, and packed with authentic South Indian flavors, this is the one recipe that never fails. Whether paired with hot white rice, soft idlis, crisp dosas, or fluffy appams, this gravy delivers pure comfort in every bite.Ingredients:
chicken: 1 kg
cinnamon: 1 inch
marati Mokku: 1 piece
cloves: 4 to 5
onion: 1 cup
tomato: 1 cup
turmeric: 1/4 tsp
chili powder: 2 tsp
dhania: 1 tsp
salt to taste
cilantro
To grind:
pearl onions: 10 nos
coconut: 2 tbsp
ginger: 1 inch
garlic: 5 cloves
cumin: 1/2 tsp
fennel: 1/2 tsp
pepper: 1 tbsp
green chili: 2 nos
cashew: 10 nos
Method:
- Ingredients to make a masala paste.

- Pulse and grind the above ingredients first.
- Add cashew and green chili.
- Grind to a fine paste.
- Add oil and temper with cinnamon, cloves, and marati mokku in a cooker.
- Add chopped onions.
- Add chopped tomatoes.
- Add salt.
- Add turmeric.
- Add chili powder.
- Saute for 2 mins.
- Add the ground masala.
- Add the chicken pieces.
- Adjust the gravy consistency by adding 1/2 cup water.
- Mix together.
- Pressure cook for 2 whistles, open when the steam settles. Garnish with cilantro.
- This chicken recipe goes well with rice, idiyappam, aappam, pulao, roti, idli, and dosa.
